The Minister of State, Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Laurent ESSO was before parliament on the 18th June 2024 to defend bill No.2056/PJL/AL to authorise the President of the Republic to proceed with Cameroon’s accession to the United Nations Conventions relating to the status of stateless persons and on the reduction of statelessness adopted on 28 September 1954 and on 28 September 1954 and on 30 August 1961 respectively in New York. It was following the request of the Government, seeking the parliament to authorise the President of the Republic to proceed with Cameroon’s accession to the United Nations Conventions which codifies the rights of stateless persons and governs their international protection. These conventions codify the rights of stateless persons and governs their international protection. A stateless person is any individual who is not a national of any state following the operation of its laws.
If adopted, the bill will ease the incorporation of these stateless persons into the mass of the Cameroonian human force and resource
Appearing before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the lower Chamber of Parliament, the Minister of State, Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals was accompanied for the job by the Minister of External Relations Lejeune MBELLA MBELLA and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Justice Jean de Dieu MOMO.
